ICN call for applications for the 2010 Global Nursing Leadership Institute

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) is delighted to invite applications for the 2010 Global Nursing Leadership Institute, to take place 11 – 17 September 2010 in Geneva, Switzerland, where ICN is headquartered.
The Global Nurse Leadership Institute is aimed at nurses in senior or executive level positions in developed and developing countries across the world. Applicants may come from a variety of settings such as: health service organizations, education institutions, national nurses associations, regulatory bodies, government departments or Ministries of Health, and so on. Applicants need to demonstrate the capacity, motivation and vision to undertake senior leadership development.
The Global Nurse Leadership Institute will employ an action-learning approach where participants will observe and analyse strategic leadership in action, enhance their global health knowledge and strategic skills and engage in peer learning and development. The 2010 The Global Nurse Leadership Institute will focus on strategic planning and performance.
Worldwide, nurses in senior level positions are being challenged by complex and rapidly changing health care environments. As a result of participating in the Global Nurse Leadership Institute, ICN expects that participants will:
- be better equipped to build strategic alliances and use strategic thinking and planning skills
- identify their leadership strengths and areas for improvement
- acquire a deeper understanding of global health care challenges and be better positioned to effect positive policy change at the local, national and global level
- be better equipped to take on higher leadership roles nationally and globally
- develop lasting international leadership networks with the Global Nurse Leadership Institute faculty and participants
ICN has been a pioneer in leadership, management and negotiation skill development for nurses for more than 20 years, through the highly successful Leadership for Change™ (LFC) and Leadership in Negotiation (LIN) programmes. The Global Nurse Leadership Institute represents the third-arm of ICN’s leadership development strategy.
Global Nurse Leadership Institute participants will live in residence during the 6-day programme and the work of the Global Nurse Leadership Institute will be conducted in English.
